Hellooooo everyone,

Well this post comes after a long hiatus owing to our placement process and all CAT ,GRE schedules.Well since now is the time to look back at what we did over past 4 years here in this beautiful campus of IIT Roorkee,lets take out some time for our friends.

Manoj has started a new thread-a-day sort of activity on Orkut so that we can share our views about that day's person(one person of the class)...write what you like about this guy ,what you hate,what u wish for him/her,just anything abt him/her....that shall b compiled later on and each one will be given a copy of the complete compendium.Sounds fun...

Let's write down these memories about our friends so that throughout our lives we remember who we were,with whom and how beautiful and fun filled were these "Best days of our lives".

AZAD ROCKS DUDES!!!!!

Once again my firm belief that Azad guys of Elec 08 are the most jovial and vivacious,of all the Elec gangs in different Bhawans , has been reconfirmed with the unexpected revelry on Sankalp's and Ankit goel's birthday.Those who could'nt make it to Azad because of their busy schedules need not bemoan their absence coz I am presenting few of the enthralling and memorable moments of the night.

मेरे शब्द खो गये, मैं बेचैन हूं,

कण्ठ दो मुझे, मुझे आवाज़ होना है



मुझे जीना नहीं आता, ना ही सीखना चाहता,

काल दो मुझको, मुझे आज़ाद होना है



प्रथम या अन्तिम कोई, स्थान मत छोड़ो,

मुझे रुतबा नहीं आता, मुझे अरमान होना है



शिकायत की सी भाषा है, मगर सब वेदनायें हैं,

जो कहना है कभी सीधे से कह नहीं पाता,

कोई सब मुश्किलें फेंको, मुझे आसान होना है



नियम कुछ मैं नहीं मानूं, पुरानी राह ना जानूं,

मेरे चक्कर में पर सारे जमाने को नहीं भूलो

मुझे बस आज रहना है और कल कूच होना है

न जाने किस की साजिश है, मुझे बलिदान होना है



सुनो ना गौर से मुझको, ना ही मायने सोचो,

अपना काम निपटाओ, मुझे बेकार होना है



बैठो फ़रिश्तों से जरा सुलह तो कर लें,

मेरा भी एक सपना है, मुझे भगवान होना है



समझ में जो नहीं आया, उसे सोचो ना रह रहकर,

ये दिल से बात निकली है, जरूरी दिल का होना है

Are IITs sufficiently open to new Ideas

Hi everyone

All of us have seen a lot of world outside the campuses of IITs in the past few months .We have had some enlightening revelations about our selves in the same period.One thing that keeps resurfacing in my mind is that whether IITs are open and flexible enough for appreciating and encouraging new ideas and innovations.

We do hear a lot of news about extraordinary guys and girls making it to these premier institutes every passing day.People who are great innovators ,prodigies ,Olympiad wiz kids etc but we do not hear much about them after they come here.Is it that their innovative spirit dies out once they are here?Or they do not make it public due to some issues like unhealthy competition,risk of plagiarism or lack of support from the faculty?sometimes it feels like we become moronic ,nonchalant and snoozy as soon as we become a part of this "System".

I believe the very foundations of the IIT system is to be open to all sorts of weird ideas and to objectively evaluate each one till we find some solid grounds why a certain thing is not feasible.Rather the scenario is that not only do we totally ignore logical evaluation of new ideas we also neglect the prospects of existing techniques.

As you would have observed from your experiences ,the higher education system elsewhere gives a lot of importance to innovation rather than only perfection in existing technologies.In my opinion as well this is the way to go.
